Soc temple complex lies on the Soc Son mountain (Phu Ma or Ve Linh Mountain) which belongs to the MA? range in the Tam Dao curve, now in Phu Linh hamlet, Soc Son district, Hanoi. It has been said that this is the holy place of the Tam Dao range.
The SA?c temple consists of Upper temple, Lower temple and Mother temple. Among them, the Upper temple is the center and also the most important structure in the complex.A In the temple, there is a artifical mountain with Saint Giong, genies and captains on it. In front of the Upper temple is the Ma mountain range, in which the Vay Rong top was the place where Giong took off his armour, put them on the Chinese Eaglewood tree then rode a horse back to heaven.
In the compound of SA?c temple, there is a pagoda named Non N?ac. People also call it a?Soc Thien Vuong Thien Tua? – a pagoda that is on 110m high. Non N?ac is located at the heart of curving mountain range, like a throne, looking over the blue water lake and populous villages in Ve Linh commune, Soc Son District, Hanoi.
The main festival of SA?c temple and Non N?ac pagoda complex is annually held on the 6th of January (of lunar calendar). Activities involved are the water procession, the elephant tusk procession, racing for tribute and the Beheading of the Enemy Generals. The most special one is the Bamboo Flowers procession, which reminds people of Saint Giong pulling the bamboo to fight against An enemy. Giong festival is a healthy and joyful cultural ceremony.
